Tikva Wolf has witnessed love transcend and evolve beyond the rigid, traditionalist trappings of the fairy-tale romance. Love, Retold is a meditation on love and companionship for people who don’t remember feudalism. Each chapter explores Wolf’s experiences with loved ones—her lovers and their lovers. The stories capture key moments in her relationships, and she reflects on the murkier, tenebrous aspects of love, especially—but not exclusively—the nonmonogamous kind. These stories illuminate and revere uncertainty, confronting the realities of mismatched needs and desires with compassion and self-reflection. In a world obsessed with beginnings and endings, this is a book about middles.

“This is the book we’ve been waiting for. A book that will blow your heart and mind into a million billion pieces, and then stitch them, so tenderly and so gracefully, back together. Enjoy.”
—Anya Light, author of
Opening Love: Intentional Relationships & the Evolution of Consciousness

“Trick out your solo-flyer jetpacks and uncover the secrets of the poly universe, where love is a verb and two equals infinity. This poignant and pervasive tale spirals readers through space and time on an energy-ridden adventure coaster through NRE, love and transition. This is a beautifully written and fantastically illustrated must-read for new and seasoned poly folx alike!”
—Chrissy Raymond Holman, President of Open Love NY

“The artwork is beautiful for its own sake, but every drawing also serves to move the story forward, and every panel is fresh and fascinating. Through both the drawings and the words, the reader will repeatedly be startled by how well Wolf captures the workings of the human heart and our attempts at deep connection and lasting love.”
—Kathy Labriola, author of
Love in Abundance and The Jealousy Workbook

Love, Retold presents the questions we all worry over in our relationships. Wolf’s artwork and metaphors are brilliant and accessible to anyone searching the universe for this crazy little thing called love. Whether you’re monogamous, polyamorous, or a jetpack-wearing solo-flyer, you can take comfort in knowing that you’re not alone in this quest…Or, to put simply: No, you’re crying after six pages at work.”
—Billy Procida, comedian

“The passion and realism placed into the stories connects to the reader in ways many other books on polyamory have missed the mark. The everyday relations that are depicted are all too real and familiar, and at times I found myself agreeing with the emotional rollercoaster that the characters are riding. Well done! Thank you for putting your stories out there so others can know that we are not alone on our adventures. There are lots of us flying our jetpacks, looking for the way, each blazing our own trail, and it is wonderful.  I am in tears having read through it as it all hits close to home for me.  Thank you.”
—Billy Holder, vice president of the Relationship Equality Foundation

“I loved this heartfelt exploration of love and mindfulness, seen through the lens of different relationships: how relationships can illuminate the inner workings of the psyche, how they stand on their own yet can enliven each other. This work is aimed straight at those for whom relationships are a path to inner growth. It also shows how that is possible for people who haven’t encountered the concept. In Tikva’s retelling, everything is up for exploration—excitement, heartache, boredom—and everything is an arrow pointing back to compassionate presence in the moment. The art style is familiar from Kimchi Cuddles, but more lush and gorgeous—I wanted posters of some of the panels!”
Sarah Taub, Ph.D., Center for a New Culture

“A penetrating graphic description of all of the complexities of love. New Relationship Energy and Old Relationship Energy. Love is complex, and perhaps best not understood fully to perpetuate the mystery that keeps us all intrigued trying to find THE answer. The work must be read at least twice, and maybe even more, to extract the profound thinking therein. Love, Retold explores where our need for freedom and transgression and our need for safety and connection intersect: the very heartland of polyamory.”
—Kenneth R. Haslam, MD, curator at the Kinsey Institute Polyamory Archives

Tikva Wolf comes from a long line of love-activists and has been drawing ever since she could hold a crayon. What she primarily cares about in art (and life) is connecting to people, creating dialogue, and spreading awareness. She lives in North Carolina.
